Ever Suffered a Single-Incident Trauma? Still Messing You Up? Checkout EMDR Therapy!

In the trauma world, a single-incident trauma is a one-time traumatic event. Keeping in mind that trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside of you in response to an overwhelming/threatening event.

Examples of a single incident trauma include a car accident, assault, witnessing a death, seeing a disturbing image, being terminated, or anything that felt overwhelming in the moment. Following a traumatic event people may notice changes in their sleeping, eating, mood, anxiety levels, worldviews, physical health, etc.

Great news! You do not need to continue to suffer with symptoms following a traumatic event! There are interventions that can help shift, release, heal, and move you beyond your trauma responses. The nightmares can end, the startle responses, the crying, the driving with white knuckles, etc. can be stopped.

I am a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, which means I have specialty training in EMDR. EMDR is great for treating single-incident trauma responses.

Please contact me to see if EMDR therapy might be a good fit for you. Many times, the sooner you seek trauma therapy following a traumatic event, the quicker the trauma symptoms can be resolved. Reach out!
