As part of my undergrad at UW-Madison, I did a research project on the impact of first names on personality. Our names do impact us and how others perceive us. The same is true for business names. Thus, I was thoughtful about naming Coriander Living Collective.

My business consultant gave me the advice of that I better love my company name because just like naming a child, not everyone else will like it! So, there you go! I do want to share the meaning and significance behind Coriander Living Collective.

Coriander is one of the few words, in the English language that I have ever noticed that includes my first name. There’s a play on words: “cori-and-(h)er.” It’s also a delicious aromatic herb used around the globe. I love to cook and travel. It has medicinal properties of being stimulating and calming at the same time. Our nervous systems are trying to maintain this homeostasis all day long. Many times, in therapy, I will guide clients in learning to work with their nervous systems. Coriander has a life cycle just like us humans. It’s rooted, it rises, it grows, and it dies.

Living because my company is about supporting a life well lived. I am not promising endless joy or lofty bliss. Just a satisfying, decent life if you’re willing to work for it. It’s not only about wellness and mental health, it’s about being a choice maker, and embracing life, all that entails.

Collective because it speaks to belonging, parts of a whole, and my plan is to expand. I have different business phases laid out. I hope to create a place where you can come to be supported by multiple practitioners and where you find a sense of community and belonging. Coriander Living Collective offers services that nurture mind, body, soul, and spirit. I view all of these pieces of self as being equally important.

Coriander Living Collective is out in the world encouraging life satisfaction through connection to self, others, and the world by embracing one’s humanity and lifestyle with insight, intention, and action through psychotherapy & counseling, mediation & conflict consulting, and workshops & retreats.
