How Often Do You Do Things in Life Where You Feel Truly Free?
Ecstatic dance, free-form intuitive movement, authentic movement, or however we call it, empowers people of all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes to courageously express themselves in a safe container. How often do you do things in life where you feel truly free? Uninhibited? Safe to explore and accept what is?
By engaging our senses and listening to our bodies, we are able to connect deeply with ourselves, others, the world, and spirit.
"Your body is the ground metaphor of your life, the expression of your existence... So many of us are not in our bodies, really at home and vibrantly present there. Nor are we in touch with the basic rhythms that constitute our bodily life. We live outside ourselves - in our heads, our memories, our longings - absentee landlords of our own estate. My way back into life was ecstatic dance. I reentered my body by learning to move my self, to dance my own dance from the inside out, not the outside in." ~ Gabrielle Roth
A few years ago, I was introduced to ecstatic dance at a retreat in Sedona. I was instantly hooked. I felt so free and alive once I pushed through the uncomfortableness and self-consciousness and let myself go. I am not a dancer. I’m the person who would shy away from dancing at a wedding. I have often felt awkward and disconnected from my own body, but I am telling you, if you are willing tolerate being uncomfortable for a bit, what you will find is AMAZING!
Physical, rhythmic movement is a wonderful way to release tension and stress, reduce anxiety, calm your thoughts, boost your mood, and process emotions. It is an integrating and connecting practice joining our bodies, hearts, and minds with spirit, in community.
I am excited to share ecstatic dance with you! Come join us by the light of the moon and barefoot in the grass! Upcoming Moon Movement Workshops this Friday, 9/25 at Glen Park in River Falls, WI and again on Friday, 10/30. These workshops are hosted in collaboration with Inspiring Actions.
