Telehealth is the official name used when healthcare is delivered through interactive audio, video, and/or telephone communications rather than a traditional in-person office setting. The terms online therapy or virtual counseling are commonly used to describe interactive audiovisual psychotherapy and counseling.

Online, telehealth, or virtual therapy have become very popular since the pandemic. Telehealth psychotherapy may include mental health evaluation, assessment, consultation, treatment planning, and therapy. Telehealth follows all the same HIPPA, privacy, recordkeeping, and billing procedures as in-person sessions.

Coriander Living Collective uses the HIPPA Compliant, practice management software, SimplePractice for online therapy sessions. Client’s are invited to sessions with secure links via email or text.

Telehealth requirements:

1.     Telehealth requires a device that allows for internet access and video/audio sharing such as a smartphone, computer, or iPad.

2.     Sessions are not to be recorded.

3.     Clients must be physically in Wisconsin or Minnesota during sessions with Coriander Living Collective due to licensure requirements.

4.     If the client is a minor, an adult must remain at home and be available via phone during the whole session in case of an emergency.

5.     If any safety concerns arise a welfare check via the local authorities may be requested.

6.     Telehealth sessions require both client and therapist to be in a private space with no interruptions.

Risks: Telehealth comes with a few risks which may include technology issues, lack of in-person observations, privacy and space issues, technical failures and/or the transmission of personal information could be interrupted by unauthorized persons.

Benefits: Telehealth comes with benefits such as easier access to care, no transportation barriers, no driving time, the convenience, and comfort of meeting from a location of your choosing, and scheduling flexibility.

Brainspotting & EMDR: Both function well in a virtual environment and offer positive treatment outcomes.

Coriander Living Collective is honored to offer online therapy sessions! Telehealth may not be appropriate for all symptoms or all clients. Please feel free to contact us with questions about if telehealth is an appropriate fit for you!
