Hope Can Change the World: Here’s How!

At times, the state of our world can feel hopeless: war, natural disasters, and pandemics. We as people can feel hopeless. Hope is not an emotion, but a cognitive process.

Why “Let’s Begin to Heal” in Relation to the Pandemic Won’t Work and 9 Practices That Will Help!

I keep hearing in relation to the pandemic, and especially in educational settings, let’s begin to heal, or let’s start the healing process. It strikes me as odd given that in the therapy world, it’s known that we are not able to heal trauma if we are still in it. And unfortunately, for us and our children, we are still in the pandemic. The uncertainty and loss of control continue as we do not know what is ahead?

Times have been tough. We all need each other more than ever. Our children are counting on us, watching us, learning how to navigate hard times. Here are 9 things to practice during this extended stressful time.

OUR LIFESTYLES ARE KILLING US + CREATING UNWELL CHILDREN

How come we continue to do so many things that are not good for us and our children? Our lifestyles are killing us and making our children unwell.

For some of us, that’s a literal statement. Mental and physical illnesses are on the rise in this country. High levels of stress, busyness, materialist and autonomous values, a lack of interpersonal connection, climate change, a toxic food system, high electronics use, and disconnection from nature. We are amid a spiritual and cultural crisis.

Coriander Living Collective encourages life satisfaction through connection to self, others, and the world by embracing one’s humanity and lifestyle with insight, intention, and action through psychotherapy & counseling, workshops & retreats, and collective growth practices. Join us!

If you’re a woman or a mother, this book is for you. Doyle encourages us and calls us to action: “Here’s to the Untamed: May we know them. May we raise them. May we love them. May we read them. May we elect them. May we be them.”

Welcoming the Unwelcome: Wholehearted Living in a Brokenhearted World by Pema Chödrön

What we put out into the world is a direct reflection of how we feel about ourselves. I have no doubt that the quickest way to heal our world, is for each of us to work on healing ourselves.

In Welcoming the Unwelcome Pema Chödrön shares practical ways to use Buddhist philosophy to greet polarization, failure, ego, and discomfort. She encourages radical acceptance, being in the here-and-now, compassion, and honoring the humanity in each of us as a way to build healthy culture.

Lifestyle Series PART 1: Healing and Pain Come from Lifestyle

And with intention, insight, and action we can choose a different style of living.
